Single-molecule proteomics

Bench-top solutions for comprehensive single-molecule protein sequencing and characterisation.

Proteins are the workhorses of biology

DNA is the blueprint for life, but proteins carry out the essential functions in the cell.

Understanding the proteome, the complex collection of protein variants in our cells, is critical for unlocking the inner workings of biology and will enable us to develop a better understanding of human health and disease.

Our nanopore technology

Evolved from the pioneering work from the Maglia Lab at the University of Groningen, our technology uses nanopores to detect and analyse single molecules with unparalleled sensitivity.

Nanopores are exquisite biosensors that capture and characterise protein or metabolite molecules. As these molecules move through the nanopore, they create unique electrical signatures that encode atomic-level differences.

Coupling our nanopore platform to state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms, we can decode the electrical signatures and reveal the molecule’s identity and detailed sequence information.

One platform, three technologies

1. Molecules

Small-molecule DX

Detect and quantitate small-molecules and metabolites, and assess the purity of samples.

2. Peptides

Peptide spectrometry (NPS)

Quantitate peptides and their post-translations modifications using a mass-spec compatible workflow. Sensitivity to charge, shape and volume allows discrimination of chirality and other isobaric changes.

3. Proteins

Full-length protein sequencing

Analyse intact proteins from end-to-end, identifying the protein and the location of any modifications on a single molecule basis.
Our unique and versatile chemistry allows proteins to be read from end-to-end as intact single molecules or as peptide fragments, enabling complete coverage of the protein, its sequence and revealing all its modifications in context.
